why oh why are all the useful things these days not as fancy as this little gem… i mean this match holder is so gorgeous and detailed and well, it’s beautiful, no?:

good ol' edgar

early last year jeff started working at a new antiques store/auction house that opened barely a block from our house. being that the boy has spent most of his 34 years rummaging through other people’s stuff at yard sales, flea markets, or thrifts stores, you can imagine his delight to now be getting paid to do such digging.

and i, friends, had no idea i would then become the lucky recipient of oh so many treasures in the process. the auctions happen every two weeks on tuesday nights and there is much to be had. so i thought i’d start a new type of post to share my auction faves from each upcoming auction for you to drool over, or heck, call and place a bid on… so here goes.

this week is sort of a cruel post since the auction was actually last night. but well, i was inspired. next time around i’ll give you some time to fall in love.
